Google Launches Dashboard Feature for Business Owners in India
20 Oct 2009
Google India has introduced a dashboard feature in its Local Business Centre. The new feature would allow business owners who have listed their businesses on Local Business Centre to know where their customers come from and what they searched for to find them.
Local Business Centre enables business owners to list their businesses in Google database and thus appear on Google Search and Google Maps. The dashboard feature was first launched in US in June 2009 and now Google has introduced it in India.
By using this feature, business owners will also be able to identify trends, such as days of the week when interest in their business spikes or seasonality in the types of searches that lead potential customers to their listings. Owners will also be able to better determine how changes to their listings influence the traffic.
The dashboard will provide information about impressions that will let the business owners know the number of times their business listing appeared as a search result on Google Search or Google Maps search in a given period.
It will have information on actions which will show the number of times users clicked through to the business website or requested driving directions to the business. It will also provide information on the top search queries showing which queries led users to the business listing and whether more customers are finding the listing for a cafe by searching for ‘tea’ or ‘coffee’.
