Dispute between Ibibo And T-Series Over Online Singing Competition

ibibo's karaoke like competition iSinger is the focus of a dispute between the MIH, TenCent and famous music label T-Series.

iSinger is a contest wherein the users submit a song via mobile. Other community members can then vote for their favorite singer.

The contest is in multiple languages, and is being judged by music directors.

There are some copyright concerns that have come up lately like in case of a user playing a tune in a background, and singing a song before uploading it on the site, it’s a violation of copyright.

In case of a user merely singing lyrics (without a tune being played in the background), which are uploaded to a website, it’s again a violation of copyright. These copyright issues are something for the court to deliberate on.
