Gmail Introduces Automatic Message 'Language' Translation Service

21 May 2009

Gmail Labs have introduced a new feature called ‘Automatic Message Translation’ which lets you translate to other languages of your choice that are supported by Google Translation Service.

It presently supports around 17 languages which include - Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish.

If the message that you get is in any of the above languages, you can have it translated into any one of the other languages. You can also translate an entire conversation.

To enable this feature, you need to enable the automatic message translation feature in Gmail Labs. Go to Settings, click on Labs, check the entry named 'Message Translation' and click on Save Changes button.

Now when you receive an email in a language other than your own, Gmail will help you translate it into a language you can understand.
