Google Labs Unveils Similar Images, News Timeline

Google has announced an experimental feature for searching similar images based on the search query. It has rolled out Similar Images feature from its Google Labs to aid users to get matching image results based on their chosen result.

To access this feature, go the Similar Images experimental search page in Google Labs - and enter any search query. For example, type "Apple" and from the search results obtained, click on the 'Similar Images' link given below each image to get more matching results.

The technology works by "computing the visual distance" between two images then finding the closest similar photo from the image database.

Google Labs has also introduced Google News Timeline for history buffs and news crawlers for browsing information chronological order.

This novel feature organizes search results from bunch of sources, in a graphical timeline manner.
